Two Types of PDF Forms

Before choosing a method, it helps to know which kind of form you have:

Interactive PDF forms — These have clickable fields. You can click directly on a text box, dropdown, or checkbox and type or select your answer. Most modern government and corporate forms are interactive.

Flat forms (image-based) — These look like a form but have no clickable fields. They're essentially a scanned image or a PDF that was never set up with form fields. Filling these requires a different approach.

Method 1 — Fill Interactive Forms in Your Browser (Free, Instant)

For interactive PDF forms, your browser does the job with no tools required.

In Google Chrome:

1. Drag the PDF file into a Chrome browser window (or press Ctrl+O to open it)
