Frequently Asked Questions
Will my content be cropped or distorted?+
No. Content is scaled proportionally to fit the new page size. If the aspect ratios differ, white margins are added to fill the space. Nothing is cropped.
What is the difference between A4 and Letter?+
A4 (210×297mm) is the standard in most of the world. Letter (8.5×11in / 216×279mm) is the US standard. A4 is slightly taller and narrower than Letter.
Can I resize pages to different sizes within the same PDF?+
Not with this tool — all pages are resized to the same target size. For different sizes per page, a desktop PDF editor is needed.
Does resizing affect image quality?+
Scaling down reduces the effective resolution of images proportionally. Scaling up (e.g. A5 to A4) may make images appear slightly less sharp but content remains clear.
Is there a page count limit?+
No page count limit. Files up to 20MB are supported.
After resizing, compress the result to keep file size minimal, especially when scaling up to larger page sizes.
What is Resize PDF Pages?
Resizing PDF pages changes the physical dimensions of every page in a PDF document to a new standard paper size such as A4, Letter, Legal, A3, or A5. This is different from scaling the view in a PDF viewer — it permanently changes the page dimensions in the file itself. Content is proportionally scaled to fit the new size, and white margins are added if the aspect ratios differ.
When should you use it?
Resize PDF pages when you receive a document in one paper size (e.g. US Letter) and need it in another (e.g. A4) for printing or submission, when a form or document was created in a non-standard size and needs to be normalised to a standard size, or when preparing a document for a specific printing or publishing workflow that requires a precise page size.
How Resize PDF Pages works under the hood
TryMyPdf loads your PDF with pdf-lib and iterates through every page. For each page, it detects whether the current orientation is portrait or landscape, then selects the matching orientation for the target size. The page content is scaled proportionally using pdf-lib's scaleContent transform, the content is centred with translateContent, and the page dimensions are updated with setSize. The result preserves all original content at the new scale.

Tips for best results
Compress after resizing up
Scaling up a PDF (e.g. A5 to A4) doesn't add detail but does increase file size. Run Compress PDF afterward to keep the file lean.
Check margins after resizing
If the source PDF has very little margin, resizing to a different aspect ratio may place content close to the new page edge. Preview the result before printing.
