How does the AI background removal work?+
We use U2Net, a deep learning model trained for salient object detection. It runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — no image is ever uploaded to a server. The model identifies the main subject and removes everything else.
Why does it take a few seconds?+
The AI model is about 40 MB and downloads on first use (cached after). The actual inference takes 2-10 seconds depending on your device and image size. Subsequent uses are faster since the model is cached.
What types of images work best?+
The AI works with virtually any image — portraits, product photos, logos, animals, objects, and more. It handles complex backgrounds, gradients, and outdoor scenes much better than basic tools.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?+
